The Health Change Team

Dr Sally Chapman – MBBS, FRACGP – Founding Medical Director

Dr. Sally Chapman graduated from the Tasmanian University in 1989 and her medical career began in Western Australia. By 1995 Sally was well established in general practice in Hobart (working in Kingston, Bellerive and Rosny). During this time she began searching for the answers to some of the more complex medical conditions and realised that orthodox medicine provided some of the answers but not all.  Functional medical training, integrative medicine training and ongoing study have enabled the creation of this new practice, Health Change which will provide all of these modalities in the one environment. Being able to look further into the causes of conditions, solve problems at a deeper level and provide advice and solutions are all possible in the practice of Integrative Medicine.

Health Change offers natural hormone replacement therapies, thyroid health, endocrine conditions, autoimmune conditions, energy imbalances, fatigue, post viral illnesses, metabolic diseases, weight management, hormone imbalances, allergies, gastrointestinal disorders and childhood illnesses such as allergies and intolerances. Health Change provides functional medical testing, intravenous medicine therapy, detoxification treatments and weight loss management including HCG weight loss programs. In accordance with the Hippocratic Oath and the Philosophy of Hippocrates, Health Change aims to educate individuals with extensive knowledge and provide new ways to succeed in the journey of improving health outcomes.

Dr Roger Skierka – General Practitioner MD

Dr Roger Skierka was born in Northern Montana, USA where he grew up spending considerable time in the Rocky Mountains enjoying outdoor living with his parents and three siblings. He attended University in New York and Creighton Medical School in Omaha, Nebraska. During his studies he was able to explore the Great Plains and grow his love for outdoor adventure. He practiced medicine for 12 years in Iowa with his wife Traci, who is a Family Practitioner. Traci eventually retired from the Family Practice to home school their children. They raised their family enjoying an active lifestyle of boating, hiking, wildlife and gardening.

Seeking a change in medicine to fulfil a desire to teach and reach patients, the family moved to Scottsdale, Tasmania in 2010. Here they discovered even greater outdoor experiences and have fallen in love with the state. The family have explored and hiked Tasmania’s trails during their time here, and made the state their home. Roger and Traci moved south to Brighton in 2017, to follow two of their children who had relocated to Hobart prior. The family has since grown and now Roger and Traci are proud grandparents to three girls.

Roger has always had a desire to teach and educate patients on their bodies and how things work. With a daughter who has Type 1 Diabetes, Roger is passionate about the positive benefits of healthy eating, exercise, sleep and social interactions. He practices a relatively well-balanced life with work, family, church, community and nature. After conventional GP duties for 22 years Roger felt satisfied in helping people, but struggled to feel fulfilled in truly providing the whole person care. He discovered Functional Medicine via conversations with Dr Sally and knew this was the path he wanted to take moving forward. Dr Sally has invited Roger to be part of the Health Change Team, where he will work alongside her to learn and grow in practicing Functional (Integrative) Medicine.
